Atlanta Police have closed down the city center after reports of an active shooter at a hospital and say ‘multiple people’ are injured.
Officers were called to Northside Medical Midtown, on West Peachtree Street, after reports of an active shooter inside a building.
There have currently been no arrests, and police are urging anyone in the area to shelter in place.
In a statement, Atlanta Police Department said: ‘We are working an active shooter situation inside a building on West Peachtree St, between 12th St and 13th St.
‘We are aware of multiple people injured. No suspect is in custody.
‘Anyone in the area is asked to secure their building and shelter in place. Anyone not in the area is asked to stay away. ‘
Dozens of heavily-armed officers are on the scene, with witnesses seeing several people being taken out of the building on stretchers, according to WSOC.
