These people are all stupid
Thank goodness they didn't switch to a fleet of all electric snowplows.
Props to all the people doing their best to help others.
The news articles that follow prove that the extinction by the year 2060 runaway-AGW that
AmericaRepublicQAnons are causing. Creates the climate-refugees and homelessness within AmericaAmurderKKKguna, at the southern border, and all over the world. QMAGAt-Fascists who read My comments can no longer fool themselves into believing that runaway-AGW is a hoax.
Paragraph 1 of 4 Carbon Dioxide Levels Just Hit 417ppm, Highest In Human History June 10, 2020 This news article is from Forbes. Country-wide lockdowns and quarantine acted to temporarily decrease emissions of global greenhouse g@s. However, as the yearly May benchmark was released it appears to have done little to slow the ever-increasing rise in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. May 2020 hit a record high, 417 parts per million (ppm) carbon dioxide as measured at the Mauna Loa Observatory, which has continually measured CO2 in the atmosphere since 1958. The reading of 417 ppm is up from 414.7 ppm in May of 2019. How do we put these carbon dioxide concentrations into a historical perspective? The reading of 417 ppm is likely the highest it has ever been in the history of humans on Earth. On top of that, it is likely the highest concentration seen on Earth in 3 million years.
Paragraph 2 of 4 Carbon Dioxide Levels Just Hit 417ppm, Highest In Human History The last time the atmospheric carbon dioxide was this high, sea level was 50 to 80 feet higher than it is today and 3.6°–5.4°F warmer than pre-industrial temperatures. There is a delay in the physical response of a forced increase in carbon dioxide to temperature and sea level, meaning this acts as a benchmark for where we are likely headed into the future. While volcanic eruptions previously played a significant role in increasing CO2 in the atmosphere and thus warming the planet, we KNOW that the modern rise in CO2 is a response to burning fossil fuels.
Paragraph 3 of 4 Carbon Dioxide Levels Just Hit 417ppm, Highest In Human History The coronavirus-related lockdowns did cause a temporary drop in CO2 emissions, estimated at 17 percent. However, the lockdowns were too short-lived and not significant enough to alter the course of CO2 rising each year consistently on Earth. “Well-understood physics tells us that the increasing levels of greenhouse g@ses are heating Earth’s surface, melting ice and accelerating sea-level rise,” said Pieter Tans, senior scientist with NOAA’s Global Monitoring Laboratory.
Paragraph 4 of 4 Carbon Dioxide Levels Just Hit 417ppm, Highest In Human History “If we do not stop greenhouse gases from rising further, especially CO2, large regions of the planet will become uninhabitable.” Atmospheric scientists at Scripps estimate that it would take a 20-30% reduction in emissions for 6-12 months to see a downward impact on global atmospheric concentrations. If a worldwide pandemic-induced lockdown couldn’t do it, likely nothing apart from coordinated carbon dioxide reduction policy would.
Paragraph 1 of 3 Antarctica will likely set an alarming new record this year, new data shows February 18, 2022 CNN — As surging global temperatures alter the landscape of the Arctic, scientists are observing what’s shaping up to be a new record at the other end of the globe. Preliminary data from the National Snow and Ice Data Center suggests Antarctica will likely set a record this year for the lowest sea ice extent – the area of ocean covered by sea ice. On Wednesday, sea ice around the continent dropped lower than the previous record minimum set in March 2017.
Paragraph 2 of 3 Antarctica will likely set an alarming new record this year, new data shows “What’s going on in the Antarctic is an extreme event,” Ted Scambos, a glaciologist at the University of Colorado Boulder and lead scientist at NSIDC, told CNN. “But we’ve been through this a bit.” The ice shelf holding back the 'Doomsday glacier' could shatter within the next five years, scientists warn. What he means by “this” is a roller coaster of sea ice extent over the past couple of decades, swinging wildly from record highs to record lows. Unlike the Arctic, where scientists say climate change is accelerating its impacts, Antarctica’s sea ice extent is highly variable.
Paragraph 3 of 3 Antarctica will likely set an alarming new record this year, new data shows “There’s a link between what’s going on in Antarctica and the general warming trend around the rest of the world, but it’s different from what we see in mountain glaciers and what we see in the Arctic,” he added. Satellite data that stretches back to 1978 shows that the region was still producing record-high sea ice extent as recently as 2014 and 2015. Then it suddenly plunged in 2016 and has stayed lower-than-average since. “That kind of drop is pretty much unprecedented in the record,” Marilyn Raphael, geography professor and director at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, told CNN. “Antarctic sea ice does vary from year to year, but that was a bigger variation than what normally happens.”
All I can say to the folks in the comments asking about where are the plows, what about the weather reporting, where are the resources…
Another important weather factor: as the storm path wavered north and south throughout the most intense 48 hours, the city was central and did not get a break. That meant 0 visibility for 2 days. You couldn't stand outside because it was like the Arctic. Lake Erie is a powerful snow machine and it was on full blast.
I also think the holiday added to the situations severity, to distract people and catch them at a stressful time of year.
Snowstorms are deadly in the moment because of the cold, debilitating nature of that much snow. But they're damaging well after too, as removal breaks our backs and strains our relationship with local leaders. Some in the downtown community feel neglected from what I'm seeing from friends on social media. But they're trapped and scared and were functionally alone. But all local officials can do, in the short term, is warn people, "hey, a storm is possibly coming." Which they did do. I knew it was going to snow and snow good. But sometimes they're not so bad. Memes circulate mocking weather reports and local officials if officials overestimate severity, and then it doesn't snow. It's all so hard to balance and all we can do is mitigate risk and prepare for-real every time, just incase. Yet another factor, there are large parts of the Buffalo community who are low income. Even if you heed all the warnings, it's hard to be prepared if you can barely make ends-meet to begin with. Most of the people I know who got stuck were going to or from work.
There is also a disparity in infrastructure quality within the city, which results in some low-income blocks/neighborhoods not getting plowed with the same frequency (or at all even) and that has a ripple effect on reaching down power lines, and EMS services. Buffalo has a lot of 1-way streets full of car parking…. it's a nightmare and a s***-show every year! But in blizzards like this it just escalates from a nuisance to life-threatening.
All that aside, I'd also like to say a large part of the community has been prepared, has responded admirably, and although it's been challenging, we're here for eachother. The reporting of kindness amongst the community is 100% true. Buffalo and Erie County are going through it right now, but we'll keep going, cause that's all we can do. We are Buffalo Strong <3
S/o to Mike, WKBW, and ABC News for the coverage. It's comforting <3
Here in north Africa we are actually having long days of heat despite being in winter. This extreme weather throughout the world is an indication that climate change is heading towards a very dangerous level. Whoever is responsible should make decisions.
It will ONLY experience extreme weather events from now until its extinction by the year 2060. Due to the changes in climate caused by the runaway anthropogenic global warming; that is causing the global-warming-refugees at the southern border. Who can no longer grow its coffee or food in South America; because it is too hot.
I live in B-Lo. Crazy!! Cars buried on all the streets.
Global warming isnt real, idiots say. Well, this year Buffalo got defeated. Next year, the winter will come even stronger than this year. I love snow however. Stay safe.
Paragraph 1 of 5 The ‘Doomsday’ glacier may trigger a dramatic sea-level rise in only five years! January 24, 2022 This news article is from Science News for Students. The ice shelf that had kept it in place could fail within five years. A huge glacier in Antarctica is at risk of sliding into the ocean. If it does, that would trigger a disastrous rise in sea levels across the globe. Thwaites Glacier is one of the biggest in Antarctica. Until now, an ice shelf — a floating slab of ice — has held this West Antarctic glacier from the ocean. But new research suggests this ice shelf could collapse within three to five years. An international research team shared its finding December 13 at the American Geophysical Union’s fall meeting. It took place in New Orleans, La.
Paragraph 2 of 5 The ‘Doomsday’ glacier may trigger a dramatic sea-level rise in only five years! Ted Scambos was part of that team. Thwaites spans 120 kilometers (75 miles) across. At roughly the size of Florida, he notes, “it’s huge!” Scambos studies glaciers at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. The organization is based in Boulder, Colo. If the whole glacier fell into the ocean, sea levels would rise by 65 centimeters (26 inches). That poses the world’s biggest threat to sea levels in the next 80 years.
Paragraph 3 of 5 The ‘Doomsday’ glacier may trigger a dramatic sea-level rise in only five years! The eastern third of Thwaites is currently propped up by a floating ice shelf. It’s an extension of the glacier — one that juts out into the sea. The underbelly of that ice shelf is lodged against an underwater mountain some 50 kilometers (31 miles) offshore. That sticking point has helped hold the whole mass of ice in place. But new data suggest that brace won’t hold much longer.
Paragraph 4 of 5 The ‘Doomsday’ glacier may trigger a dramatic sea-level rise in only five years! Those data come from sensors placed beneath and around the ice shelf for the last two years. Scambos and his colleagues found that warm ocean waters are eating away at the ice from below. The ice shelf is losing mass. And that’s causing it to retreat inland. Eventually, it will retreat completely behind the underwater mountain that’s pinning it in place. Meanwhile, warm water is widening fractures in the ice. These cracks are swiftly snaking through the ice like cracks in a car’s windshield. As a result, the ice shelf is shattering and weakening.
Paragraph 5 of 5 The ‘Doomsday’ glacier may trigger a dramatic sea-level rise in only five years! This double-whammy of melting and shattering is pushing the ice shelf toward collapse. The whole thing could give way in as little as three to five years, Erin Pettit said at the meeting. Pettit, who was part of the research team, studies glaciers at Oregon State University in Corvallis. “The collapse of this ice shelf will result in a direct increase in sea level rise, pretty rapidly,” Pettit added. “It’s a little bit unsettling.”
This global warming is getting outta hand. Immediate actions need to be taken to stop this escalating rise in temperatures.
And they say God loves humans more that 70 times than a mother
How are the highways around Buffalo tho. Clear? Still bad?
I’ve been under the impression Buffalo could handle any snow. Can’t imagine.
sad but in awe of nature and to think, we're part of nature.
The real misery of the cold 🥶 weather.

What happened was people is so caught up in themselves and did not take it seriously! Thousands of Alerts where send out a week ahead of time! About the storm coming!
Who’s looking for a good deal on real estate in Buffalo next spring?
Where's Gov. Hochul? Buffalo is her hometown. (""Top Gov" Ron DeSantis immediately went to SW Florida to see the damage left by Hurricane Ian, three months ago, so he could better coordinate the recovery effort.)
I pray for all the homeless and everyone else I can only imagine how many people are dead under that snow
Imagine the dead bodies under the snow once melted. Homeless people everywhere. Hopefully the racist people who cheered the massacre at the supermarket. God bless those innocent black people
Ever notice when there is a blizzard and they have no idea how much snow fell it is always a whole number of feet?
