A shark has attacked a man swimming on a remote part of the South Australian coast on Saturday morning.

The man in his 40s was swimming near Elliston on the west coast of South Australia‘s Eyre Peninsula, roughly 650kms from Adelaide, when the attack occurred.

SA Ambulance services were called to help the man near a location called Walkers Rock around 10:15am on Saturday.

It is understood that the man was raced to the shore by a jet-ski following the attack.

He is said to be in a serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
