Robot home appliances like automatic vacuum cleaners need to build up a map of where they live in order to move.
Typically LiDAR spatial technology, which has a spinning laser to determine distance, is used โ but it has itโs shortcomings too, like high-performance ability and cost.
New software, developed by Slamcore, is being used so robots use visual imaging, rather than LiDAR, to make up a map of their surroundings.
Slamcore CEO Owen Nicholson said the next level of spatial intelligence is knowing how the world around you is shaped โfrom a geometry point of viewโ.
