A look at what’s happening in Cleveland State Athletics…
Men’s Basketball
-Cleveland State will return home for two straight games this week, hosting ETSU on Wednesday, November 22 and Alabama A&M on Saturday, November 25.
-Both games this week will take place in Woodling Gymnasium as part of ‘Viking Basketball Back In Woodling’.
-Last time out, the Vikings went 1-1 on the week, including a 71-61 victory over Canisius.
Women’s Basketball
-The Vikings will remain at home for a trio of games during the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Viking Invitational this week, hosting Austin Peay (Wednesday, November 22) Chicago State (Friday, November 24) and UMKC (Saturday, November 25).
-All three games this week will take place in Woodling Gymnasium as part of ‘Viking Basketball Back In Woodling’.
-Last time out, the Vikings picked up a convincing 96-57 victory over Central Michigan in their home opener, improving to 2-1 on the young season.
Fencing
-The Vikings will be off from competition until after the New Year, returning to action on January 27 at the DiCicco Duals.
-Last time out, Cleveland State participated in the OSU Elite Invitational.
Wrestling
-Cleveland State will have the week off before starting MAC action when they travel to George Mason on Saturday, December 2.
-Last time out, the Vikings finished sixth as a team at the Navy Classic, with four placers.
-No. 22 Daniel Bucknavich was the runner-up at 285 pounds, while No. 21 Dylan Layton placed third at 141 pounds, No. 23 Ben Smith placed fourth at 197 pounds, and Tate Geiser came in sixth at 165 pounds.
Swimming & Diving
-The Vikings will be off from competition until after the New Year after closing out the first part of their season at the annual Magnus Cup event.
-The Cleveland State men placed first at Magnus Cup, while the women finished eighth.
-On the men’s side, the Vikings set six Magnus Cup records, while Tyler Schultze saw a program-best 200 Breaststroke time and Xander Austin registered an NCAA Zone Cut in 1m diving.

Tristan Enaruna, Men’s Basketball
Recorded back-to-back double-figure scoring performances, including his first double-double of the year with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Canisius.
Sara Guerreiro, Women’s Basketball
Helped CSU pick up a convincing 96-57 victory over Central Michigan, finishing just shy of a double-double with nine points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
Tyler Schultze, Men’s Swim & Dive
Notched the fastest time in program history in the 200 Breaststroke at Magnus Cup, winning the event in a time of 1:57.21.
Emma Walker, Volleyball
Named to the #HLVB All-Tournament Team after averaging 3.71 digs per set through tournament play to lead the Vikings to the semifinals of the 2023 Horizon League Tournament.
