WEBFI-TECH-The DECLINE of General Motors

General Motors is already in decline, but the real survival test hasn’t yet occurred. While GM is planning multiple electric vehicles for the future, its timeline are far out leaving the company little room for failure. ARk Invest is predicting 40% EV market share by 2025 whereas GM is forecasting its own EV share to be 40% by 2030. This misalignment could be DEVASTATING to the company. General Motors is also working on its Ultium Battery platform, however Tesla chief Elon Musk has warned against using the types of battery cells that GM has invested in. At the same time, Tesla’s full self driving software continues to improve day by day, but GM’s Cruise division has recently has a shakeup of its own.

Do you think General Motors will be able to navigate the transition to EVs within the company’s target of 14 years or will Tesla completely disrupt the auto giant? Be sure to watch:

people genuinely loved the ev1 despite its shortcomings, and GM shit on it.

the Bolt is actually a nice EV and so are the recently announced (@CES) models. i hope they can get the batteries they need and shift to EVs soon. i want to see more successful EV manufacturers, not wish for their demise.

    good luck to GM

  • Aurelio-Rey milaor cabal on January 11, 2022

But GM is " the leader in BEVs" according to USA President Joe Biden, and it is #1 in making the Hummer EV1, GM actually sold 1 Hummer in 2021, so GM is #1🤣

  • J Garbo on January 11, 2022

The great dichotomy: Musk sees EVs everywhere, not profits. GM sees profits anywhere. regardless. Disgusting and futile.

  • Gee Eee on January 11, 2022

    Who is joe biden?

  • Rick Kay on January 11, 2022

I literally cant get enough of the irony of the company that killed its only EV now being killed by EVs

  • jason johnson on January 11, 2022

If gm could make a truck that gets 60/70 mpg they would destroy tesla, instead they are trying to copy elon. Good luck with that. Idiots

  • Brian Smith on January 11, 2022

Of course don’t even mention the $50B bailout GM received and has not paid it back!

  • Enigmatic Engineer on January 12, 2022

    Screw Government Motors

  • J Valentine on January 12, 2022

Chasing EV vehicles instead of servicing their existing GM customers is what's killing them . You don't compete with something you can't match . You stay with your own successful products . Once morons get at the helm of a company it's on it's way down .

  • Bruce Moller on January 12, 2022

Mary should just go away and dream, or maybe cry then panic, 14 years will come but I’m pretty sure nobody is going to wait that long for them.

    More Tesla propaganda
Mmmm, that koolaid tastes great 👍

  • aapvannieKaap on January 12, 2022

Granny Mary – pls save GM and go enjoy your grand children.

  • Dennis W on January 12, 2022

EVs are NOT suitable for the masses. They are too damn EXPENSIVE and the range is too LIMITED. They are NOT ready for prime time. This EV push is just another transfer of wealth to the top 1%. I don't need to hear this total ELON Propaganda

  • Rune Overas on January 12, 2022

Unbelivable how GM, with the US presidents blessing, can serve lies like they do.
Should be illegal in my view.
    To much fake news…

  • Chris Pitel on January 12, 2022

General Motors has made so many bad engines cars and crap…maybe Chrysler is the only manufacturer of cars is worse…

  • johnny lee on January 12, 2022

    You did it Mary!?

  • Jason Gunningham on January 13, 2022

I’m sure she’s more worried about diversity and inclusivity they’re making money Wait till we have our first woman president you’ll see they act more on their feelings then common sense

  • Cayrick Pan on January 13, 2022

Big huge entrenched corporations have built up layers of management that over time become about as complacent as gov't bureaucrats. It is a culture that is hard to change. Then along comes a competitor like Tesla that is nimble and whose managers know job security is only as good as your performance yesterday and it is highly disruptive to less nimble competitors. Everything about Tesla is innovative and state of the art.
Not much time for GM to ask Mary to step aside and make room for somebody more energized.
As for Joe Biden he too is a genius. He was able to reform his crackhead son into an accomplished artist with no training who can command $1 million for each of his proliferation of paintings which are display on the wall of many politicos homes.

  • Dan Rowley on January 13, 2022

Oh, for God's sake people you have a potted plant in the Oval Office. Do your plants control you? Your grass & weeds do but that's another season or two.

  • Dan Rowley on January 13, 2022

What your stating about the GM mindset is exactly why the Germans bought Chrysler & helped to pile drive that company into the ground instead of FORD(they knew the Ford's fingers would be in every pie (decision) & would be breathing down their necks 24/7 yes 366 (leap year) days a year. For the very reason GM continues to prance through life on tour with one dog & pony show after another is why the Germans turned tail & ran. When you come into work tomorrow have 10 lanes of paper work 99% blank in front of you. Walk through all 10 before you get to your desk to begin your day. First after you've booted your1 computer…guzzle your 5th of JD to settle your nerves. Don't worry you'll need it & you're insides won't notice. Welcome to GM! P.S. Remember do put in for hazard pay when you talk about that goofball company GM.

  • photobobo on January 13, 2022

In 14 more years, GM will be a distant memory. Good riddance.

  • Rune Møllegaard on January 13, 2022

    I don't think GM had 14 years.

  • neil smerek on January 13, 2022

they may survive but at the minor position they now have-

  • Chris Scaife on January 13, 2022

I don't think GM will be around in 2030. I think the invasion of Chinese made, low price EV's will shock everyone with how quickly they are accepted. GM will be sold for parts.

  • erepsekahs on January 13, 2022

Great….she is at least 10 years behind. General Motors….and the other Big Two are still having meetings on "How can we make cars rust out and fall apart if they are electric with aluminum bodies…..because that has been the premise behind every vehicle they have ever made. (the 'hybrids are a mechanic's wet dream come true….but people will soon see through those.)

  • Tell-d Truth on January 13, 2022

In 5 years, we will see who will lead the EV markets. I believe it is the one who already an EV company now.

  • Mohammad was illiterate on January 13, 2022

Imagine GM paying all those pensions out to old factory workers when they go BANKRUPT?

  • ParaSpite on January 14, 2022

Saying that Biden believes that GM electrified the entire auto industry, is… incredibly generous of you. To assume he actually believes this, rather than him being a LIAR, gives him a whole lot more credit than I believe he deserves.

  • WV25701MW on January 14, 2022

GM may be fully electric by 2036 when the only thing they have to sell is the flaming Bolt.

  • need to know on January 14, 2022

… even Biden remembers what he said a year ago … hahaha.. no he don't …

  • Shiro Lee on January 15, 2022

How can this be??? Mary Barra is leading the EV revolution?!?! Jk!

  • Matty bo batty u on January 15, 2022

Disappointed with the union mentions in this video. when the company failed to be better.

  • Mika Davies on January 15, 2022

I take my hat off to Mary Barra, she is earning millions by miss leading one of America's biggest names & getting the American President to look a total idiot. That proves she is unique! She could clearly sell sand to the Arabs. As a con artist she is at the top of her game.

  • Mika Davies on January 15, 2022

Battery unit capacity and cost is the only key to success in EV sales. Any moron can see that. Building a vehicle that uses masses of batteries, weights over 3 tons and costs a fortune is not the way forward. A smaller, cheaper vehicle is. GM shares will drop, whilst Ford will gain market share.

  • Dream Land on January 15, 2022

Will be glad to see GM go by the wayside. Their a crappy old company that has outlived its usefulness.

  • mo mo on January 15, 2022

Government Motors would’ve broken down into small chunk healthy parts sold off if it was not for all government protection and subsidies.
Too big to fail policy need to go away. Government power need to be reined back in pre 1900s level.

  • Billy Boy on January 15, 2022

Barra is a con-man and is clearly lying about GM chances in the EV space. She is mis-leading investors and even the President. Although that is not saying much. Anyway, expect GM to request a bail-out in the near future.

  • Neil Amalfitano on January 15, 2022

GM always survives….the government won’t let that happen, the American people will foot the bill for their continued incompetence

  • Neil Amalfitano on January 15, 2022

How will all the ev’s be powered if the electric grid can’t handle the current needs

  • Mark Waschke on January 16, 2022

GM I think went down hill once they sold thier heavy truck division to Volvo. If you think about it, they made a cheap highway tractor which sold well. I worked at a WhiteGMC dealer in 1988, at our grand opening I talked to a GM person and asked do you think GM could ever go bankrupt, he just laughed and told me GM owned so many companies and land it would never happen. Well GM got rid of thier Heavy duty division first then the medium division slowly went away. Then look at all the car divisions they shut down. Then they forced dealers in Canada to close down. This makes me wonder how successful are they really

  • Lawrence M on January 16, 2022

GM needs to tear down all their factories and install robots. GM needs to follow Tesla. robots do not need a raise, they do not need rest break, vacation, insurance, sick leave and no benefits. full automation will solve GM major problem.

  • Lawrence M on January 16, 2022

electric cars are not the solution. GM needs to start producing Fuel Cell vehicles. this will counter Tesla and there are places that fuel cell vehicles can go and operate at a better solution. there is 3 ways to make hydrogen. Hey GM, trick the market and produce fuel cell vehicles. if China makes and uses 1,000,000 electric vehicles. they will need to use more coal to produce the electric to power the electric cars. Ha, ha, more pollution to power the electric vehicles. GM produces Fuel cell vehicles they can take over the market again. Musk is solving the battery problem and charging time. they have a new Glass battery. 5-15 minutes to charge and 1000 miles on one charge. Repeat: GM start fuel cell vehicles and make the government set up electric charging stations and fuel cell refueling stations.

  • Lawrence M on January 16, 2022

GM needs to also invest millions $'s and start the new version of computer chips. stop waiting for the countries to get back production. start fully automated new version computer chips in America. make sure the factory is in a state with no unions.
