Summary of this Tutorial:

Start by going to Settings, General and check your WordPress address url and site URL and make sure they are the exact same.

We are looking here because WordPress allows you to stay logged in based on the url.

If you use a different url your WordPress site it can’t authenticate to the session so it logs you out.

If you can’t access the admin area you can use a FTP client to edit your wp-config file and add two lines of code to it.

Thanks so much for this! I spent hours trying to fix this problem, and yours was the only solution that worked for me :)!

I checked all, deactivated plugins and short of restoring from backup, my only fix was to switch to another user admin account

I'm working with the Site owner, and I don't have access to his FTP site. This did not work for me at all. The owner originally set the urls to be https and he did not have an https site with his host. We changed the https to http: later so I'm wondering if that effected the logins. I clicked Log me off everywhere else on the bottom of the User page. Lets see if that works. I might have to create a new account and see if that works.

I have both site names the same but after submitting a comment (Chrome) I get a cannot connect error page? Does not happen with Microsoft Edge?
