Summary of this Tutorial:

Start by uninstalling any other caching plugins you may have and then install W3 Total Cache.

With the plugin installed and activated you will want to go to Performance, General Settings to start editing how it will cache.

Under Page Cache we will want to enable it and have it set to ‘Disk:Enhanced’ and for browser cache we want to ensure it is enabled.

Now under Performance, Browser Cache ensure that almost everything is enabled except for 404 caching.

Under CDN select your CDN of choice, we recommend MaxCDN.

lol I did everything you did in the video except for except for the MAX CDN as I got this message:

"A configuration issue prevents CDN from working: The "Authorization key" and "Replace default hostname with" field(s) cannot be empty. You need to select / create a pull zone. Specify it here."

And my site was slower according to pingdom. It went from being better than 48% of websites to better than 36%. Score went from 74/100 to 71/100.

    What are your thoughts?

I did this step and now my WordPress can't make connection with the database anymore? Please help.

  • AJ on November 19, 2014

What? All my databases are down! Of EVERY site I have… All files are gone. What to do ?????????????

  • Anthony Brock on February 28, 2015

Please slow down. You were even ahead of your screen shot sometimes. Concise is good but you've taken it a bit too far.

  • Ross Trittipo on April 19, 2015

I didn't mind the speed.  Loved it actually.  I can't stand instructional videos where the narrator prattles on before getting to the point.  Watch this video once all the way through, then watch it again and pause between steps.  Easy.

clear and to the point, thank you!

  • Dayne Williams on September 24, 2015

After enabling page cache my website was a lot faster. But after i enabled all the settings at the 1min 46sec mark as you suggested my website went down, it now reads

"The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at root@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error."

define('WP_CACHE', true); // Added by W3 Total Cache

or use FTP form to allow W3 Total Cache make it automatically. Update via FTP

  • pontsho makgare on September 26, 2017

Hi, i'm wondering if you'll ever reply considering your history with replies or rather delayed replies. the CDN MaxCdn cannot be enabled unless i get into the advanced settings which were not explained in the video to begin with. My concern is will this plugin work accordingly with the MaxCdn disabled or should i rather find an alternative now to spare my energy?

This tutorial wasn't meant for "beginners" if you ask me.

  • Stunning Bell on April 10, 2019

Great video, thanks for sharing. But we need an updated version because there are some new features on W3 Total Cache which were not covered here. Could you please provide an updated content? Thanks a lot in advance.

While it has great information… you dont really spend anytime explaining the reasons to selecting certain settings. Also your voice is not synced with your actions… you are actually speaking about the next step before visually completed the first.

  • Wandile Pearl on June 26, 2020

It a great content but you were way too fast
