Summary of this tutorial:

For this tutorial we are going to use the Search & Filter plugin which can be found here:

Once activated the plugin will add a new menu item that will take you to the plugin’s usage and documentation page.

It offers a shortcode with different parameters that you can either add to a specific area or add to your theme files.

Each option has its own benefits and the documentation page can certainly help with how to add each option.

may i ask,do you have to add the shortcode to every single page and post?

  • Bee Thalin on October 2, 2017

I don't get a search box, my page is blank. I did exactly like you did. I downloaded the plugin, I clicked on Install, I clicked on Search & Filter in the Panel and copy the [searchandfilter taxonomies="categories,post_tag"], saved the page and view the page – which is blank. What to do? I am using theme DIVI with the latest version of WordPress. Hope to hear from you soon… Bee

Is there a way to filter content (images) to be displayed on a site? for example i have images assigned to 3 groups (white, brown & black) When white filter is chosen, only images associated with the white group will be displayed. Thanks!

how did you add padding to the boxes so that the text is not squished inside and also how did you make the box corners not be rounded, like the default version? I am trying to change with CSS (border-radius:0px !important for corners and padding:2% !important for space around text) but it´s not working.

PLEASE HELP— I followed this tutorial and copied the same shortcode to a new page on my site but it doesn't display the filter at all. My WordPress version is up to date (5.2.3) and this is the exact type of plug-in I was looking for. Can you suggest a solution or list a similar plugin for custom post types?
