America is famous for its easily accessible fast food β with big name national chains becoming widespread from coast to coast.
But which one of the household names comes up on top when pitted against each other for the number of stores across the US?
In a surprising first place overall, Subway has more stores across America than any other fast-food joint β topping the list with 20,603.
The sandwich giant beat out other similar chains to the top spot, with Arbyβs coming in second with 3,402 and Jimmy Johnβs.
Jersey Mikeβs and popular Panera Bread came next, with 2,494 and 2,125, respectively, as Firehouse Subs, Einstein Bros. Bagel and McAlisterβs brought up the rear.

Smoothie King came in second with 1,133 while Tropical Smoothie CafΓ© had 1,013, and Tim Hortonβs brought up the rear with 630.
McDonaldβs secured the final place on the podium, with 13,515 stores across the US β with Burger King being the closest burger chain to the family favorite with just 7,257 stores.
Wendyβs had the third most, with 5,995, and Sonic Drive-In and Jack In The Box have the next highest amount with 3,548Β and 2,187 respectively.

For Tex-Mex, Taco Bell is the certified winner with 8,088 stores to Chipotleβs 3,175 β with less popular Qdoba bringing up the rear with 735.

Panda Express dominates the Chinese chains across the country, with 2, 239 stores, while Dairy Queen is the top of the table for desserts with 4,316.
The numbers come as California cult favourite In-N-Out announced that they are opening up a regional corporate headquarters in Tennessee.
It is the most-eastward expansion yet for the company, whose current most eastward state is Mississippi.
The franchises rare move to head east comes after years of insisting that it would not, only rapidly expanding in 1992.
