Summary of this Tutorial:
Ensure you are signed up to Google Analytics, you can sign up using the link below:
You will need to sign in with your Gmail account and will be prompted to sign up.
Once you do you will want to insert an account name, website name, URL, and category for Google Analytics to know what to look for.
With your signup complete we will go back to your WordPress site and install and activate the MonsterInsights plugin.
Free:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/
Pro:
https://www.monsterinsights.com/
With the plugin active you will want to go under Insights, Settings to configure the plugin settings.
There will be a button on this page to click with the title Authenticate with your Google account which brings up the authentication steps.
Following the steps, you will click to get your Google code and add it to the textbox and you will have successfully activated Google Analytics on your site.
If you would prefer a different plugin option you could go with Insert Headers and Footers.
Insert Headers and footers
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/
When you sign up with Google Analytics they offer a script that they ask you to add to your header, you can copy that code and under Settings, Insert Headers and Footers you would paste the code into the header area and save your changes.
If you do not want either of those methods we would recommend taking a look at our written article for the code method to add it to your site. #WordPress #WordPressTutorial #WordPressTips

nice explaination.but one question to be clear.method one we just simply install pluggin and doesnt need to copy script given??
Thanks for this, Unfortunately, it seems this is already outdated, unless I am getting something wrong.
Okay so how do you download monsterinsight goggle analytics plugin without a business plan on wordpress?
SO helpful! Thank you so much!!
Thank you – very helpful. I used method #1 with MonsterInsights – and – #2 with headers and footers…. is that bad to use both?
Thank you 🙂
Thanks for making this pretty easy. I did have to uninstall and re-install the monster plug in twice before it actually grabbed the google account. But it worked.
Superb. Thank you.
Only WordPress account that is upgraded to Business Plan can add this plugin right?
Thank you 🙂
I love when videos are actually helpful and straight to the point. Thank you for this straight to the point no fluff video!
Thank you so much! I do have a question. I see way less visitors on Google Analytics than I have comments to my posts. Also on Cloudflare it shows that I have much more visitors than are shown through Google Analytics. What could be the reason for that?
Great video, easy to follow, clear structure and no unnecessary information. Code worked leaving out the first line. Value added to youtube, thanks
Method 1 didn't work. 48 hours and Analytics still doesn't track. I checked the source code and Analytics was not input in it. Is it because I use a non-us tracking code?
Thank you for sharing how to do this. Much easier than typing the code into the <HEAD> section or themes.
Best tutorial I've seen for how to do this, thanks a ton!
This was excellent and so simple. Thank you!
This was very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Great tutoral! Thanks
Great video
Thank you
Why use this plugin instead of Google Site Kit?
At 5:25 when we finish with monster insights, does that enable the google analytics website to allow us to track the information as well through Google platform?
Yes, Thank you! Great explanation, very clear and to the point 🙂
I followed your third method and it erased all of my function.php!! How can I restore it?
Hi, great video as always! Just a quick question for anyone who may know the answer to this:-
I'm a web developer and I have multiple clients. Can I use my Gmail account and have the clients listed as multiple subaccounts in Google Analytics or do I have to use their Gmail account for their website? Is there a downside for picking one or the other?
Thank you! Very thorough and clear explanation of options. Good job!
Monster Insights worked best for me. This is very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks!
Where is the installing google analytics function we get from your page? I get how to set up and get the code in my google account but you lost me on the "paste the function from your set up google analytics page part"(7 minute or so mark). Great series. This was so helpful.
If I use the "Headers and footer" plugin to insert the google analytics script then deactivate the plugin after will it erase the google analytics scrip?
The only thing that works for me is the first option, when I try the 2nd option and click save, it takes me to a page in my website saying it has not been found.
Love it thank you!
Thank you
Thanks Lady, also nice glasses
when you manually install the analytic code, aren't you supposed to paste it in the head.?
can we use both monsterinsights & insert header footer at the same time
Thank you so much for these options. This was a very easy video to follow. Much appreciated. Do each of these options ensure that the global site tag is on every page of a website?
I am new to the blogging world, and I have been searching everywhere for information on how to set up Google analytics. Every blog post and video I found before this one was too complicated for someone who is just starting. Thank you for making this simple and easy to understand! This is the first video I watched that didn't use any complicated language and showed every step in detail. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
thanks ♥
Thank you very much for the tutorial
Great video, thank you very much
great video. Thanks. I completed the set up with first option (monster insight). Does this mean my site is registered with google? I had been trying to verify ownership of my site with google. I am not sure I accomplished that or if I need to
Easy to follow your excellent instructions – worked on my first effort, thanks as you make it easy so I will check out other videos and services you offer.
